Course Overview

The Lean Six Sigma Black Belt is the highest level of Lean Six Sigma expertise, designed for professionals who lead organizational change, coach teams, and apply advanced statistical methods. This program equips you with the tools, leadership skills, and practical experience to deliver measurable impact.

This course builds on DMAIC fundamentals and focuses on advanced analytics, leadership, and strategic deployment. Participants learn advanced statistical methods, including Design of Experiments (DOE), regression analysis, hypothesis testing, and project risk evaluation. The program also develops team leadership, cross-functional collaboration, organizational alignment, and control strategies for sustaining results.

The training is fully aligned with the IASSC® Black Belt Body of Knowledge and prepares candidates for both internal certification by Quality Academy® and the optional IASSC® ICBB exam administered by PeopleCert.

Minitab is strongly recommended for this level to perform data analysis, regression modeling, and DOE exercises.

Quality Academy® Certification Criteria

To receive the Certificate of Achievement for the Green Belt course from Quality Academy®, participants must meet the following criteria:

Full Attendance

  • Learners must attend all scheduled sessions in full (100% attendance is required).
  • Participation in activities, discussions, and exercises is expected throughout.

Active Engagement

  • Learners must actively engage in workshops, exercises, and trainer-led activities.
  • Case study participation is encouraged to apply tools in context.

Successful Completion of Exam

  • Participants must pass the online exam administered by Quality Academy®.
  • One re-sit is available if not passed on the first attempt.

Learner Identification

  • A valid government-issued photo ID must be presented during the final exam session.

Learners who do not meet the attendance or assessment requirements will not be eligible for certification. However, they may rejoin a future batch free of charge.

Apply for IASSC® Black Belt Exam

You may apply for the official IASSC® Certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt (ICBB™) exam through Quality Academy™ during or after your training.

How to Apply

  • During course registration, select the “Add IASSC Exam” option.
  • You can also request the exam at a later stage after completing your training.

Exam Format:

  • 150 multiple-choice questions
  • Duration: 4 hours
  • Proctored online by PeopleCert (official IASSC delivery partner)
  • Closed-book format
  • Passing Score: 385 out of 500 (approx. 70%)

Certificate Issuance:

  • You will receive a digital IASSC Black Belt Certificate and digital badge upon passing.

Maintain Your IASSC® Black Belt (ICBB™) Certification

The IASSC Certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt™ (ICBB™) credential is valid for 3 years from the date of certification.

 

Recertification Options:

To maintain your active status, you must complete one of the following before your certification expires:

Option 1: Re-examination

  • Sit and pass the IASSC Black Belt recertification exam through PeopleCert.
  • You can apply directly or through Quality Academy™.

Option 2: IASSC Recertification Program (if available)

  • In some cases, IASSC may offer continuing education or CPD-based recertification pathways (subject to availability and approval by IASSC).

Important Notes:

  • If your certificate expires, your credential status will become “inactive.”
  • You may still reinstate it later by retaking the exam.
  • IASSC does not require ongoing project logs or experience for renewal — only successful re-assessment.
