The Food Safety Management System based on FSSC 22000:2018 v5.1 Lead Auditor course is approved by certificated by the Chartered Quality Institute (CQI) and International Register of Certificated Auditors (IRCA).
 
The objective of this course is to provide learners with the knowledge and skills required to perform first, second and third-party audits of FSMS against FSSC 22000 v5.1, in accordance with ISO 19011, ISO / TS 22003 and ISO / IEC 17021, as applicable.

The training course will provide technical knowledge and practical skills (exercises and role play) to become a competent Lead Auditor, including via the following:

  • Providing knowledge about purpose of a food safety management system (FSMS), FSMS standards and business benefits of improved performance
  • Plan, conduct, report and follow up an audit of a FSMS to establish conformity with FSSC, accordance with ISO 19011 Explain the purpose and
  • differences between 1st, 2nd and 3rd party audits
  • The audit process: determination of audit objectives, identification of appropriate personnel, stage 1 and stage 2 audits, conducting on-site audit activities, including preparation of working documents, conducting meetings, gathering audit evidences, audit reporting and audit follow up – theoretically and with practical role play activities.
  • Auditing FSMS requirements, including external and internal issues, scope of the FSMS, regulatory and legal requirements, verification of the FSMS policy, evaluation of auditee’s arrangements for planning, operational processes, food safety hazard control processes, management review, continual improvement and management commitments n Responsibilities of an Auditor
  • This is a 5-day (40hr) learning event.
  • Start/Finish Times: 09:00am – 17:00pm (each day) with an earlier finish on the final day at 2pm.
  • Prior Learning Requirement: Knowledge about the core elements of management systems, the PDCA-cycle, the principles of FSMS, PRPs, HACCP, national and local FSMS legislation and the requirements of FSSC 22000, gained by e.g. attendance in a FSMS foundation course are essential..

CQI & IRCA Certified Course
The delegate is assessed based on participation and performance throughout the duration of the course. This includes all exercises, role plays, case studies and all other activities during the course. Please note, full attendance is required during the training course.
 
There is a 2 hour written examination at the end of the course. The exam is closed book in that a delegate is entitled to use only their copy of the International Standard (s) in question or dictionary if delivery language is not their native language. The minimum pass rate for the examination is 70%.

Course Pre-Requisite

Learners are required to be familiar with FSSC/ISO 22000:2018 Requirements or have completed a recognised FSMS Fundamentals course based on ISO 22000:2018 prior to registering for this course.
