  • Control of pollution
  • Planning for and dealing with environmental emergencies.

The NEBOSH Certificate in Environmental Management consists of two units; each separately assessed:
  • Management and control of environmental hazards (EC1)
  • Environmental practical application (EC2)

This course is fully recognised by NEBOSH (LP 907).

Unit EC1 is a taught unit assessed by a two-hour written examination. The examination consists of ten ‘short-answer’ questions and one ‘long-answer’ question. All questions are compulsory. Candidate scripts are marked by external examiners appointed by NEBOSH.

Unit EC2 requires the candidate to carry out an environmental review of a workplace or organisation and produce a justified action plan to improve performance. This practical application must be completed and returned to the course provider by a date determined by them and normally within 10 working days of the written examination. The practical application is internally assessed by the course provider and externally moderated by NEBOSH.

A unit certificate is issued denoting successful achievement of each unit. The qualification parchment is issued on successful completion of both units.
